Note: The Out of Stock routine provides both out of stock and item substitution functions. Both of these functions work in a similar fashion.
The Out of Stock and Substitution routines allows you to query an item being shipped on a specific date, and either change all orders for that date to reflect an "out of stock" condition or specify another item to be substituted in its place. The system will then update all orders with the substitute item to be shipped.
This is useful if an item is physically not available (or even if you simply don't want to sell an item) and you want to update all of your shipping paperwork automatically with either an "Out of Stock" message and change the shipped quantity to zero or a substituted item.
The item marked as out of stock will use the predefined short ship reason "OS."
1. At the Ship Date field, enter the ship date for the sales orders with an item that needs to be marked as "out of stock" and shipped with a zero quantity or substituted with another item.
2. Enter the item group. A Select An Item window will appear; select the item to change to "out of stock" or substituted for a different item and press Enter.
If you are uncertain of the item code, see Navigating Net Yield - Selecting an Item Code.
3. A Select An Option window will display with the following options:
Choose the OUT OF STOCK or SUBSTITUTION option. See below for more information.
